The JSE reached a record high this week, and analysts say SA equities could produce better returns than their global counterparts in the face of a recession.

Despite a record bout of intensive load shedding, and growing odds of a local recession in 2023, the JSE started the year with a bang. The All-Share Index (ALSI) is up almost 9% since the beginning of 2023, and reached a new intraday record high of 79 760 points on Monday.
