The most extraordinary part of our initial lockdown was government's decision to prohibit the export of SA-produced alcohol to foreign countries that allowed importation and domestic sales of alcohol in their territories, says Sibani Mngadi.

This day, 1 June, last year marked the end of more than two months when alcohol, by law, could not be sold by licensed entities and private persons as part of South Africa’s response to the outbreak of the Covid-19 global pandemic.
