Last week, at the height of the "Clicks" (read: Unilever) debacle, my editor, Ron Derby, reached out to me asking if I could comment. I promised him I would try, which I did, though half-heartedly.

You see, I had already written the column about the politics of Black Hair, many moons ago when journalist Debra Patta, through her show 3rd Degree, chose to do an "exposé" on how Black women were paying "thousands" for weaves and other hair products in "unregistered" hair salons across the country. The undertones of that report being "how could people so poor spend so frivolously".
