Dear Catherne,

There are many conditions that can be misdiagnosed as ADHD, one of them being sensory processing disorder as you mention above.

Low muscle tone, dyslexia and other learning difficulties are the most common misdiagnosed. Even being bullied at school can sometimes manifest in ADHD type behaviours.

Having said that, it is important to remember that most developmental disorders have a large number of symptoms overlapping. For this reason it is sometimes more beneficial, but not always possible, to treat the individual difficulties experienced, rather than look for one medication or therpay to fix it all.

Kind regards,
Delia
