Hi Sean

There can be a number of causes for groin pain, from muscular to hernias-all things being equal your s may be muscular.
The best initial exercise is unfortunately rest. Any excessive initial strain can aggravate the injury. To fast track recovery would include ultrasound and physio and anti inflammatories. For more specific exercises I suggest a message to my colleague under rehabilitation after injury.
Good luck
