Use of wrist straps
HI Conrad

Recently after steady increasing my poundages in the weights I am using over a period, I have now started experiencing a problem where I cannot effectively hold the weights I am currently using during the set, due to pains in my wrist and hands,
This happens in excersises where I am either lifting the weights up from the ground or pulling down from the pulley systems. I spoke to a Pro Body Builder at our gym, who advisd that I should start using wrist straps.

Are there any negative effects from using the wrist straps i.e weakening of grip etc?

Is there any change that needs to eb done with the excersises in general due to use of wrist straps.

With the increased tension around the wrist, does this not cut off blood circulation to the hands?

Best regards

Your concerns are valid, but only slightly. What I suggest is that you consult a Sports Injury Specialist so that they can determine if you don't have a further problem that you're not aware of.

The excessive use of wrist straps can lead to a weakening of the grip if not careful. As I said consult your specialist and get their opinion on your forearms and wrists.

Keep well,
