26yr old female and still growing; when will this stop?
Hello Cyberdoc

I am a 26yr old female.
In the last year I have grown taller by 5cm, gained 15 kilos causing me to go from a size 32 to a 36, and I have gone up two shoes sizes!!

When will I stop growing... this is becoming a costly clothing expense!!!

I am now 1.77cm tall, weigh 69 kilos and according to my most recent physical assessment my BMI is 22.

When I was 14 I had X-Rays taken of my hand to determine if I would grow much more prior to orthodontic treatment. Apparently the space between the joints in your hands was a sure way to tell!!
Is there any truth in this theory?
Is there any way of me being able to determine if I will continue to grow?

I look forward to your response!

Anonymous, you should have stopped growing by now. The best would be to have blood taken to make sure that you don’t have excess growth hormone due to a something like a tumour of the hypophysis or something. If the blood tests are normal you can have x-rays taken to determine if you will still grow more (yes, it’s true). Good luck.
