String in stools
Hi doc. I noticed that in my stools today that there was this string that was holding a couple of pieces together. It didn’t look like a worm, more like a piece of twine and it was quite tough. I haven’t had any food that is filled with stringy fibre like beans or celery recently so I was just wondering if my stomach isn’t digesting food properly or what else this could be? Other than a bit of bloating, I haven’t got any other symptoms. Is it necessary for me to go see my GP?
Hi Kelly
This is very strange - I would only worry if it happens again, or if you are experiencing more frequent bloating. Then it would be a good idea to go and see the GP. It could have been a worm that has been dead for a while, so I suggest that you take deworming medication, this is always a good idea, especially if one has pets at home. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!
