arthritis
At the age of 45 now I have been told I have arthritis in my lower back and hips. I am a property developer/civil engineer. It is critical that I be able to work and walk physically unencumbered.
Is there hope for me. Will this spread and if somehow I manage to get the pain under control will I do damage to myself?
I have been to an orthodontist and he will be conducting tests a week from now to see what causes my discomfort - the hip or the back. Meanwhile I am stressed out as I have major projects ahead and this can cost me millions.

Dear Hubbie - see http://www.niams.nih.gov/hi/topics/arthritis/oahandout.htm
I think it will answer all your questions. YES there is hope for you - you just have to manage this. And if all else fails knee and hip replacements are very successful !
