Bladder infection
My 12 yr old Daughter has a bladder infection. The Doc has put her on anti-biotics. She is also being treated for a fungal infection as her vagina is red and itchy. She goes back to the Doc on Wednesday. She has a lot of pelvic pain and complains about the burning and itchiness. She has not started menstruating yet. She occassionaly wets the bed. Could this be the reason for the bladder infection and fungal infection? Is it common for young girls to get a fungal infection? She also has a very sweet tooth. Very slim. I have asked the Doc all these questions but he can' t seem to answer them. I am very concerned.
Hallo Penny
Girls can get bladder infection and vaginal infection if they wipe the wrong way round. I am worried about the pelvic pain though, and wetting the bed at her age is not normal - I would take her to a gyne if I were you. She also may need to have her blood sugar tested for diabetes. One should also keep in the back of your mind that children that are sexually abused can get infections, wet the bed, and have other emotional problems - only you will know if this is something to be worried about or not.
