for the past 2 years I have been seeing what appear to be either light flashes in my vision or "purple blotches" over things that I am looking at (the flashes are only occasional). I went to an ophthalmologist and he says that my eyes are perfect (no disease or anything wrong with the nerves etc.). It used to happen mostly at night but it’s started happening during the day as well. What could this be? Should I be concerned? I’ve also been getting headaches. What would you recommend?

Kells, it is a bit worrisome that you have headaches too. It might be due to increased ocular pressure (glaucoma), retinal problems end even brain problems. Maybe the best would be to get a second opinion from a neurologist. Good luck.
