Devil's Grip
Hi Doc

I have had a pain in my right lower ribs (feels like a stich) for going on three months, its not a constant pain, but when I twist my body, lie down on that side etc I can feel it. I have been to several doctors, had xrays, ultrasounds and numerous blood tests and no one can tell me what it is. A friend of mine told me that a few years ago, he was having a very similar feeling and thought he was having a heart attack. It turned out he was fine and the doctor at the time told him its Devil's Grip which is basically an anxiety attack that manifested as a pain in the chest. If possible could you explain a little more about it, as I cant really find anything on the net and if you think that might be my problem?

Thanks doc

Hi Kel
Anxiety can cause chest pain but it could also be an inflammation in the cartilage of the ribs or the small muscles in between the ribs - one can usually identify the area by pushing on it with your finger.
