Headaches while exercising
Hi Doc

I am training for a cycle race...... I have been training every day for the past 3 weeks. While I am cycling / running I get terrible headaches which make me feel extremely sick!! What can I do? I am doing my race on Thirsday and I am scared that the headache will keep me from finishing because yesterday I felt a bit light headed as well. I eat well.... breakfast, fruit mid morning, cooked lunch, then a snack and then I train when I get home and afterwards have supper. Could it be my blood pressure that drops? Please advise me on what I ca do to stop these headaches while I train.

Dear Yvonne
This is difficult to guess - you could have high blood pressure or very low blood sugar too? An idea - ask your GP to organize a 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitor that you can wear while you cycle and do a blood sugar test before and after exercising?
