Iron
Hi Doc, I had blood tested to check on iron. I had two ops in past year, lost alot of blood on the first op. My iron was 4 and tested again recently it was 6. What is it supposed to be. What else can I do to increase iron. I am very tired all the time. I am taking Iron tabs.
Hallo Jet
Normal levels for men are 14-32 and for women 11 - 29, so yours is still very low. You may need to have an iron infusion or injection. The tablets are not always well absorbed. Eat iron rich foods, like eggs, liver and dark green leafy vegetables. If you take Iron tablets with Calcium or tea or bread it may influence the absorbtion of the iron negatively.
