Hi Cyberdoc,

I am 30 years old, and just before Christmas I was diagnosed with viral meningitus. I was hospitalised for 4 days, given intravenous cortisone and antibiotics for 10 days as bacterial meningitus could not be excluded from the tests.

I am fine and healthy now, but I would like to know if there could be any after-effects of the illness or long term effects on my general health, organs and brain?

Somebody (not a doctor!) told me that it could have affect my liver.... (a bit weird I thought???).

HI Liezell,
You should not have any after effects if you are healthy now. I don't think you have to worry about your liver - but you can let your GP just do a blood test to see if everything is working as it should.
