Post op sub total thyroidectomy
Hi Doc,

I had left thyroid and large lump on left side (goitre) surgically
removed 4 weeks ago, I am fine, but I find that the cut across
my neck is healing well, but feels very tight and some places
feel numb, on left side where lump was is ok and quite flat,
but on right side, where drain was is quite thick and lumpy,
also sometimes the cut stings, sometimes muscles bind tight
like squeezing, also what can i rub on scar to reduce lumpy
scar, are these things normal and when should my neck feel
normal again, can u recommend some neck exercises.

Thanks
Bokksie

Bokksie, it can take 4 -12 weeks to clear up and you don’t have to worry as long as it keeps on improving every couple of days. You can use tissue oil or Bio-oil™ on the wound and use a good sunblock when you go outdoors. Good luck.
