Sinus, nasal, throat
HI there

I am a smoker so i kind of realise that this is part of the problem or is worsening the problem. For about a month my nose has been clotted with mucus and scabs inside the nose, fairly sore, but bearable. My nose is always full, unless I have a shower or go for a run, and late at night it s usually blocked.I have also have a lot of 'sleeping dust' in my eyes and clean it about twice a day. To add another symptom I have a very chesty cough, when I do cough, and occasionally I have sneezing issues. I would go to the doc, but financially I am a bit broke at the mo, I realise this is my health, but dont want to go to the doc to just get an anti biotic perscription again!!!! I dont feel sick and am still very much active and go for runs. Should I immidiate medical advice or could this be related to change of seasons etc, are there any home remedies that could help? Any advice appreciated.

Hi Chopstick
It sounds to me like you have an underlying allergy - please sniff up saltwater ( 1 cup luke warm water with 1/2 teaspoon salt in it) and blow out until the water comes out clear - try to do this twice a day ( alternatively use an empty drixine bottle and spray it in your nose - but a lot of it) This helps to rinse the sinuses from phlegm. Then use something like Allergex tablets 3 times a day for the allergy. You can also use a bit of Drixine or Illiadin spray at night.
If you are feverish and feel sore over the face you need to get antibiotics.
