sore breast
Hi,

When i was about 15 years old my left breast suddenly grew lager than my than the right one. i went to see a doctor and he told me that it was some kind of "virus"(can't remember the name), and that i was still very young for that virus. he told me that this type of virus could only live for 3 days in once body afterwards it would not be curable. Please advise me what you think this "virus"might have been. Since about two years ago i started using contraceptions and my breast became sore. at first it was only the left one and the pain usually starts near my underarm. Does this perhaps have someting to do with this virus that i had or does it have to do with the contraception that i'm using? i am very concernd and so scared that it might be cancer.

Please advise

thanks

Dear SB
I am sorry but I really think the doctor told you a lot of nonsense. During puberty, one often finds that one breast grows faster than the other but most of the time they end up being fairly balanced! The pain you feel in the breast may be due to hormonal reaction on the contraceptives you are using. If it is, it will usually be the week before your menstruation. If you are worried, go to a gynecologist for a proper breast examination.
