Support and advice for CFS/ME sufferers
I noticed that during last year some questions were posted by people regarding CFS/ME.

I suffered from this but was diagnosed and treated correctly and lead a normal life again! Consequently, I have a strong desire to advise and give moral support to people with similar problems. Unfortunately no details are available of the people needing information and support. Anybody interested can phone me at Pretoria 991 7506 after 20h30.

In my case (and all the sufferers whom I have met since my cure), the CFS was a secondary result of a chronic Rickettsia infection which I contracted years prior to the onset of symptoms! The source of the infection can be tick and fleabites, consuming unpasteurised milk and raw animal products (like contaminated biltong, oysters, etc.) and having close contact with animals, birds, stables, etc.

This proverbial can of worms was opened by an excellent doctor who knows the big picture of this disease. Many other disorders like fibromyalgia, lupus, multiple sclerosis, etc can result from chronic Rickettsial infection. Apparently many doctors unfortunately do not know this and some common blood tests for Rickettsia give false negative results. You can imagine the resulting confusion - no wonder so many people are without hope of getting cured!

With the knowledge and experience I gained by going through the mill myself, I am sure I can help!

Best wishes

Dear Gerrit,
Thank you for your kindness and willingness to advise and support other Fibromyalgia sufferers. I saw that you commented to some people and gave your number to them and that is exactly what you can keep on doing. Unfortunately I can only refer patients to qualified doctors/therapists so I won't be able to officially refer patients to you. You could however let me know who the doctor is and I may be able to refer others to him/her.
