Swollen stomach, hand, feet;Bladder pain
Hi
My grildfriend (20) has been suffering for the last year or so from severe abdominal pain. It gets so bad sometimes that she gets numb from the waist down. Normally her stomach swells, and she feels a big pain in her bladder. The bladder area is very hard. After a while though the stomach will decrease in size again and everything would be fine for a while. Yesterday, her stomach just started swelling again, the numbness reappeared, and it has still not decreased in size as yet. She is in a lot of pain.
We have done a gastroscopy a while back, and the doctor told her that she can't she anything wrong with her. We also had some xrays done, also turning up with nothing.
Can anybody please point us in some direction?
Thanks

Dear Need2know
The abdominal pain can be coming either from the bowel or from the uterus or bladder. If there is swelling, it most probably is caused by the bowel. She needs to see a gastro enterologist and be examined for possible irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease.
