Dear Worried
The risk is always there, but if you do not work in the same office your chances of getting infected is very low (<10% per year) unless you have a compromised immune system like someone with HIV, diabetes, on cancerdrug or chronic cortisone treatment. You can have a screening by doing a chest x/ray and a QuantiFERON®-TB Gold test (QFT-G) ( - I'm not sure this is available in SA) or TB PCR test on the sputum.
