Borderline Personality Disorder
Beste Doc

No, not crazy. But any shrink who makes ANY diagnopsis, whether BPD or anything else, without fully discussing what it means with the patient, is practising really badly. However, this specifically is a difficult concept to explain to anyone in your family --- again, the shrink ought to have helped you, knowing you in detail, to work out a suitable explanation to use. If you google the term, you'll find a mixed bag of materials, but some of them ought to be helpful.
A personality disorder is not a disease, and isn't treated primarily with meds, though of course it doesn't make one immune to any other problem as well, which might need medication. It needs skilled psychotherapy to make progress.
