Do you honestly believe that counselling is the cure for all marital problems? Don't you think sometimes people are just not meant to be together or are not a good match?

I agreed to marriage for all the wrong reasons and have never been completely happy. And yes, we have been for counseling. I still feel the same...

Or is it just an illusion that both people in the relationship can be happy. One always seems to be less happy that the other. Maybe there is no such think as deliriously happy. Not for everyone, anyway.

NO, beyond any possible doubt it is NOT the cure for all marital problems. Nothing is. It is simply that it generally offers the best available chance of solving such problems, IF they are soluble and if both partners actually want to solve them ; and otherwise at least offers the chance for both partners to better understand what has gone wrong and why, to make a more informed decision about whether to carry on or part, and a better chance of avoiding the same problems in the future.
