Depressed and broken up
I suffer from bad depression which i already take medication for and have recently split up with my fiance who i was with for 10 years. I am finding everything so difficult, I cant sleep, eat or concentrate. If it wasnt for my family I probably would have killed myself by now. Are there any books I can read to help me through this period of the breakup. I am really struggling to cope.
I always prefer to see any severe depression treated with counselling / psychotherapy, especially of the CBT variety, as well as meds, because there are aspects of depression which medication alone can't help.
And it doesn't sound as though you are yet receiving proper benefits from antidepressants. I do hope you have been seen and assessed by a proper consultant psychiatrist, and that your treatment is under such appropriate specialist guidance, rather than only seeing a GP.
