Hey shrink. I gather you're a pretty conservative type, but how's your knowledge of the spirit? I have an uncanny sense of the following: when the washing is ready to hang out even if I'm not home and no, I don't know how long it takes- I don't bother with such details; when my better (worse!) half leaves the house while I'm asleep (it's never a sound that wakes me- it's a really relaxed refreshed awakening, unlike ay any other time- and yes, there is always a degree of tension in the house when he's at home); when my children break their journeys or have close shaves driving-wise (it's always just then that I suddenly decide to worry about them and phone them); when a programme that I am really interested in is about to start or has just started on tv, even if I didn't know beforethat it was going to be on or even that that type of programme would be on then; and so on. Trouble is, I never know when I am going to have one of these insights, so I have no control over them. I would love to be able to employ this ability to better organise my life. Your thoughts?

Gosh, misty, it's the first time I've ever been called that ! In Scotland, I think what you're describing is called being "fey", and is considered to be a power available in some, but not all of us, and it supposedly runs in my family ( well, occasionally its walks rather slowly, wearing slippers ). seem to share it, at least some of the time. We used to joke that in our family we hardly needed a telephone, and would know when to call the other when someone wanted to speak to us ; or go to see a friend when it turned out they needed help and had hesitated to call us.
But it seems, as you experience, to be something that happens to us, rather than being controllable and predictable. If it were, you'd probably win the lottery every time --- but it only seems to work when it's for something to the general good, and doesn't seem available for selfish use. What do others think ? Funny, I knew you were going to say that !
Conservatively speaking, that is
