Kwezzie's posting & myself
Hi CS & others. I read Kwezzie's posting and it sounds so like me - I relate to exactly what she's saying. I have always put myself second because there was always someone I had to 'save' - everytime I give my all, I get kicked in the jack. Whenever I open myself to being kind or caring (maybe loving too) I get tossed aside like its okay to do that to me and because Im bipolar I end up shrugging it off and blaming it on myself for some reason. Take me being fired 2 months ago. You cannot believe how I opened up to the bitch that fired me - she constantly told me how much she cared and worried about me - she even said that she has 2 favourites in the company and I was one of them and then ...... sorry, you're fired and I get left feeling hurt & angry. No wonder I close up and retreat into my own shell. Maybe it's the way I come across to people that they think it's okay to treat me nasty, I don't know myself anymore. The only person I rely on is myself, if I need something I do it myself because I just don't believe in people anymore. Their words are empty, with no meaning.

Isn't it important, JakaN, to recognize that unless and until you can properly care for your self ( both in the sense of "looking after" and of caring about ), you can't really care for anyone else ? Don't give your "all" to others --- give your "all" to yourself, so as to be in a good condition to be able to give what it might be useful to give, to others. Don't blame yourself for everything ( I suspect there are many elements of the Middle East situation for which we really can't hold you responsible ) Counselling is the setting in which you can learn how to distinguish between good people worth trusting and opening up to, and people to be wary of --- neither trusting everyone nor trusting nobody is a wise policy.
