Hi CS
You said something about Bipolar meds which make me wonder. I’m taking mood stabilizers, but also 1mg Risperdal at night. Three psychiatrists said I should be on Risperdal or something similar. Does that mean I have some form of schizophrenia as well Bipolar Disorder? I’ve never queried the meds mix because I thought all the meds are prescribed for Bipolar. I had two three brief psychotic episodes, but I don’t that is reason enough to be on Risperdal. Despite all the meds I still feel very unstable.

NO, it doesn't. Mood stabilizers are a primary treatment in Bipolar Disorder. Risperdal is used for various conditions, not only schizophrenia, so its use does NOT at all imply that you also or otherwise have schizophrenia. It might help to control occasional psychotic episodes, but these are issues which you need to discuss with your doctor. I have always tried not to prescribe any meds without explaining why I am recommending them and how I hope they will be helpful
