nervousness: advice required
Hi - i need some advice. Whenever i get nervous, my mouth and throat get really dry and i cannot speak properly and my hands start shaking. It is really bad, especially at work in meetings - it often results that i dont speak up and my employer thinks i have nothing to contribute. Please help - what can i do regarding this. Is there any medication or anything else i can use? please help.
Sounds like a desription of normal nervousness / anxiety. But the context in which you describe it as arising, sounds like Social Anxiety Disorder, which responds brilliantly well to CBT (Cognitive-behaviour Therapy_ style counselling, and rather quickly, too ; and some antidepressant medications of the SSRI family can help too, preferably combined with CBT. Look around for a shrink who does CBT, then see them for an assessment and treatment. And meanwhile, buterfly's advice is excellent.
