Not old self.

I am wondering why I seem to have lost the enjoyment of life. I am 52, I live alone and work 5days a week 8to5. When I get home all I ever do is watch mindless TV. Not interested in doing anything else till bedtime. Some nights I don' t even bother to cook.

In years gone by I used to cook up a storm, bake, and do needlework, read books and go out to movies. I do none of that now. Seems like just too much effort. I just drag myself to work, only because I need to earn money. I do not have a stressful job, just the hours a long.

Don' t understand why I have changed so much and I can' t be my old self anymore......

It could be Depression, it could be just that as your style of life has become more isolated, and you have lost friends to emigration,. you have lost interest in other activities. Check with your GOP or a shink for an assessment of the possibility of Depression. Also try getting involved in charitable. NGO activities, to make new friends and meet nicer people. ANd helping people in need, you needn't feel shy, as they won;t be judging you but appraciating the help and concentrating on their needs and how you might be able to help them. Some volunteer work is people intensive, but there;s also a great need for back-office work, filing, helping with admin --- and maybe you wouldn't feel shy working with animals ? And CBT type counselling could work wonders with yoru self-confidence and esteem !
