Sleeping Pills
Hi Doc,
Firstly all the best for 2006 to you and yours. May it be better than the last one eh.
The doc recenlty precribed me and my other half with PAX. You see we wake up about 15 times a night, leaving us both feeling like death in the morning. As far as I could figure out PAX is the same as valium.
How bad would this be and what is the dependency risk, as it surely helps one to sleep.

Dear Paul,
How very nice to hear from you again ! yes, pax is, I think, a generic form of Valium. In modest doses it could be helpful. What is usually recommended to minimize risks of getting dependent on it, would be to have a night or 2 without it in each week or so --- maybe a night when you're rather tired anyway ; and reconsidering the plan after a couple of months. You should be fine. Also make sure you do all the other sleep Hygiene things ( warm milky drinks, comfortable beds, dark, quiet, reading something boring before going to bed, and so on, as well
