Cat with hurt pad
Hi,
I took my cat to the vet yesterday because she somehow managed to almost slice one of the pads on her back foot off. He gave her two shots, a course of antibiotics for 10 days, and sprayed a gentian violet derivative on the foot to dry it out. The thing is she wont stop licking. He said if she is still licking by Saturday we'll have to put one of those cones on her because its already caused a slight secondary infection. She's had one before because she licked her stiches out before they were ready to come out when she was spade and she hated it. She'd walk around growling at her sister, getting stuck on things and just generally distraught. Is there anything at all I can do to stop her licking so that she doesn't have to go through that again?

Either the foot needs to be covered (not always a good idea) or she will need to wear the Elizabethan collar around her head. If she is only licking and not damaging then it is not a problem, but if she is causing further damage it must be controlled.
