Cats and dogs
I picked up a kitten in the middle of the road a week ago. I cant get it over my heart to take it to the spca so we decided to keep him. but i have 3 small dogs. how do I get the dogs and cat to get along. when i bring them togehter the dogs want to smell him but it does not look like they want to hurt him at all. but the cat goes nuts and that charges the dogs up. Will it get better? What can I do to help or is it cruel of me to put the poor kitten through this. Please help

Hi A

Just be patient. Allow the kitten to get used to the smell of the dogs gradually and also allow the kitten to find a safe haven when the dogs are around. Allow 1 dog at a time to sniff the kitten. Put the kitten on top of the couch where the dogs can not get to. Allow the kitten to feel safe up there. He will soon accept them. If the dogs have just been lying on the couch, put the kitten where they have been lying. Do not get worked up if the dogs get worked up, just pick the kitten up without saying a word and walk away, put the kitten away. He will soon visially get used to the dogs and their smell and then it should go well.
By no means is it cruel to put the kitten through this. He is just not used to them and possibly was chased by a dog. Allow them to sort each other out.
