Dog Breeds
Hi Doc,

Is there a website I can look at to see all the kinds of dog breeds there are? I will be moving into my new house and would like an ideal watch dog aswell as a house bound dog. What would be ideal?

Hi E
There are a few websites where you can look at breeds and I recommend that you do so. Go to my website and look at the Pet Links page for some websites ( I'm not sure what you mean by "housebound", but all dogs need to get out for daily walks, although the owner need not do it themselves - you could employ someone to walk your dog. Large dogs are more of a deterrent and need more exercise, whereas small dogs need less space and are generally more alert. If you get a puppy it cannot be expected to be a watchdog until it is at least a year old and will need to be toilet trained, puppy socialising classes and obedience classes. Socialising with other dogs and people is very important, especially if you want a dog that is able to detect unusual behaviour, noises etc. and is still trustworthy with your friends and family and does not bark the neighbourhood down. If you adopt an adult dog you need to know as much as possible about its breed and history so you know what to expect.
