Dogs eating inappropriate substances
We live on a farm and sometimes homeless people sleep over in our vineyards and do their toilet needs there. Our two dogs somehow locate that spots and eat it. I know that sometimes dogs eat their own faeces - coprophagia is the term I think, because they may want to correct an digestive problem but what about human stuff? That's far worse! What can we do to prevent this? I've heard you can spray something on to it or sprinkle some pepper on it, but then you have to be present everytime they do it and frankly we can't watch them 24/7. Can the dogs get worms this way?

Hi Maja

You are correct that you are not able to always be there to spike the inappropriate substances, you would have to either muzzle them with a big open box muzzle in order for them to breath properly and drink water or you would have to try and set them up with some of the substances. Unfortunately dogs are scavengers and will jump at the opportunity for anything that is remotely disgusting to consume.
Yes they could get worms like this, I would deworm them evey 3 months for safety sake.

good luck
