Labrador & Husky
I have a labrador that's almost a year old & before he develops a bipolar disorder[kidding], I want to get him a play mate and was thinking of a Siberian Husky or a Malamute. Is it a good idea - will they get along - what are the temperaments of these dogs ie. on their own as well as in relation to labradors. Thanks.

Hi Ktn
I hope you have lots of space and time to do lots of grooming as these two breeds are quite demanding. As temperaments go they are more aloof than Labradors, but demand more exercise. They are also harder to train as they are not as biddable as Labs. If you get a bitch then it sounds like a good enough match. Labs are generally very friendly with other dogs, especially if they have been socialised, and Huskies and Malamutes are not known to be aggressive dogs, as a rule. Any male dog will challenge your male Lab so I recommend a bitch to eliminate this problem.
