SORRY THIS IS A BAHAVIOUR QUESTION... but I need advise please? My cat's very important 2 me
Doc, please give me some advise on my cat's behaviour? She grew up spoiled as our only cat. We got a spanjoel later and the cat and dog are like sisters. My mom came to visit and brought her cats along for my cat to play with. Unfortunately my cat is just extremely jealous, she runs out of the house and doesn't want the other cats close to her. They are much younger than her, and they want to be friends, but my cat makes awful sounds when she sees them, and shows no interest at all. I'm scared that she might decide to look for another home. Under circumstances, the other cats are going to stay there for a month, they can't leave, but I don't want my cat not to feel welcome in her house. What should I do? Why does she behave like that?

Hi Juice

Cats are not group animals like dogs are. They do not at all mind to be on their own. What you could do is during the day when you are not home, put the other 2 cats in a room where they feel safe and let your cat roam around the house. At night when you are home, put her in your bedroom and allow the other 2 cats to come out. They will smell each others scent and get used to each other like that, but will probably never be friends. If the other 2 are only staying for another month, then rather allow your cat more freedom in the house than the other 2. I.E. at night she can stay in the bedroom with you.
