Stained very sensitive teeth
Hi Doc

I wasn''t blessed with the strongest best looking teeth...when i was small I ate alot of sweets and wouldn''t want to drink milk because it made me feel ill...Today, my teeth stain very badly especially because I smoke. Mostly my back teeth and some front ones are brown by the gums and it can''t be removed by cleaning at the dentist. I''m 28 and the dentist told me my teeth are like sponges and stain easily due to decalcification where at some stage in my life I''ve lost alot of calcium (wasn''t a big fan of diary products). I get enough calcium these days but it''s obviously bit teeth are also extremely sensitive that i can feel some sensitivity from air which I breathe in. I''ve used all sorts of toothpastes for that but nothing is working. I feel very conscious about my smile as my teeth are stained, weak, bit scew and sensitive. Is there a procedure that takes care of sensitivity and is there any way at all to have the stains removed as some of it shows when I smile (kind of looks like cavities even though they are not as checked by dentist). I get so jelaous of some people I know as they have naturally perfectly straight teeth with not a single filling and even though they also smoke, their teeth still look clean when they smile or laugh with an open mouth. I don''t want to always have to hide my smile with my hand. Any advice of what would be the best solution in my case.

Thank you

all the problems you describe can be fixed but treatment will depend on the extent of damage. crowns/veneers may be necessary. iwthout a proper examination and x-rays it is very difficult to say what treatment is best for you.
