Effect of Diabetes on the eyes
My brother is in hospital due to an infection in his blood and diabetes. He has responded well to treatment after a period of 7 days of being badly confused and very ill.

After 7 days of treatment he is still not able to see properly. I am concerned as to how long this eye condition can continue before it becomes permanent. What would you advise us to do? His blood sugar level has now gone down to 8.

Dear Nita

It is concerning that his vision has not yet returned properly. Vision can be temporarily affected when glucose levels are high, but when levels are down and there are persistent problems, an urgent assessment by an ophthalmologist is required.
