animal protein versus plant protein
I would like to become a vegetarian. For example if 200g steak is the portion of animal protein for the day, with how much grams of vegetable protein (beans, peas, etc.) do I replace it with?

Dear Lyn
Basically you replace animal protein with vegetables protein gram for gram. The portions size you mention for steak is rather big, we usually work with 90g portions when calculating a balanced diet. I trust that you are also still going to eat eggs and dairy products, thus becoming a lacto-ovo-vegetarian? If you can also eat fish, this would be excellent. If you become a strict vegan (no animal products), then you need to take a complete vitamin and mineral supplement, extra calcium and omega-3 fatty acids to prevent deficiencies of vital nutrients.
