Dear Ninon
I must admit that I am also puzzled that you are gaining weight despite going off the injection, cutting out cola drinks, etc. You don't mention which tests the dr did? Did she do a glucose tolerance test? and a thyroid hormone test? if not, then please go to a Physician or an Endocrinologist (look in your local telephone directory under 'Medical' and then check after the dr's names to see if they are Physicians ("internis" in Afrikaans) or Endocrinologists), because you may have insulin resistance, hypothyroidism or other hormone imbalances (e.g. polycystic ovarian syndrome). One other factor that can cause weight gain is depression. If you feel you are depressed, then please go to see a clinical psychologist (look in the Yellow Pages again under 'Psychologists' or ask your dr to refer you). Your present BMI = 28,9 is still above the normal range (18-25), and it would be good if you could reduce to 61 kg which would give you a normal BMI of 24. To lose weight need to reduce your energy intake (click on 'Diet' and 'Weight loss' and 'Slimming Diet' for a copy of a low-fat, high-fibre slimming diet), and increase your energy output by doing regular exercise (running, jogging, skipping, cycling, swimming, join a gym or Walk for Life). I reckon that your previous experience with the gym may have been due to the fact that you did strength exercises which build muscle which weighs more than fat, so give aerobic exercise a try which burns fat.
