Dear Tuna
The problem with cold drinks (fizzy or otherwise) which are sweetened with sugar is that excessive intakes may have a number of negative effects: a) intake of such large amounts of sugar may suppress your appetite so that you don't eat foods which are rich in nutrients b) the high energy content of these drinks can lead to obesity c) many of these drinks have a high acid content in addition to their sugar content, so they can lead to tooth decay, d) fizzy drinks that contain caffeine can lead to addiction. It is a good idea to limit your intake of sweetened beverages (soda water is an exception), to rinse or brush your teeth after drinking such beverages and to only have fizzy drinks occasionally.
