dairy free diet for baby
Dear Docter,
I just found out that my 2 and a half year and 8 months old baby are allergic to dairy and cow's milk protein. What diet can we follow and do I need to give any supplements? What formule milk must I use now for my baby?
Thank you

Dear Tulise
I would recommend that you consult a clinical dietitian (visit the Association for Dietetics in SA Website at: www.adsa.org.za and click on "Find a Dietitian" to find a dietitian in your area), to help you with diets for your two children as they are both allergic to cow's milk protein and will need different diets because of the difference in their ages. You can try using a soy milk feed like Infasoy for your baby, or contact the Nestle Consumer Services at 0860 09 6789 and ask about the formulas for babies that are allergic to cow's milk protein. In the meanwhile click on 'Diet' at the top of this page and then on 'Food-related diseases' to read the articles on milk allergy. Also visit the SA Allergy Association Website at: www.allallergy.co.za .
