Diet,gluten intoller & insulin resistant
I have been to an endocrinologist and was "diagnosed" with gluten intollerance and insulin resistance. I have always struggled with my weight and it is busy becoming a losing battle. I am active (walking 2 times a week and playing squash 2x a week) and it seems that nothing i do, does any difference to my body. I am so tired of struggling. Is there a good eating plan that you know of, for both gluten intollerance and insulin resistance?

Dear Ani
Because you have 2 distinct conditions that each require a specific diet, I would also recommend that you consult a clinical dietitian (visit the Association for Dietetics in SA Website at: and click on "Find a Dietitian" to find a dietitian in your area). It is essential for anyone with insulin resistance to consult a clinical dietitian, because the correct diet is one of the most important factors in treatment. The dietitian will take your insulin resistance and other conditions such as overweight and the gluten intolerance, into account when working out a diet for you, which will be based on foods with a low glycaemic index (GI). Click on 'Diet' and 'Weight loss' and 'The right approach' and read the articles on the GI. Also click on ‘Food as Medicine' on the Diet Site and then on ‘Type 2 diabetes'. To obtain more information about gluten intolerance click on 'Diet' at the top of this page and then on 'Food-related diseases' you can read the articles on wheat and gluten allergy. Also visit the SA Allergy Association Website at: .
Keep up the good work with the exercise as this does prevent you from gaining excessive weight and helps to lower blood insulin levels.
Best regards
