eating plan
I am 48, female, 5'1", weigh 86 kg. Please can you give me a menu that will help me to lose weight gradually over six months and with ingredients I would find in my kitchen. I generally have things like weetbix, pronutro, the normal frozen veggies and salad greens, fish, chicken, rice and potatoes. Tinned foods like baked beans, chick peas are a favourite of mine. I used to follow a fat free diet and came down 3 dress sizes but I couldn't face it anymore and now I am back where I started. I still eat very little fat but I don't lose. I also have a back condition that makes exercising very painful so I avoid it. I walk a lot at work so I am not totally inactive. Please help?
Dear Annie
Your present BMI = 35,8, which is very high. It would be advisable to reduce to 60 kg to get back into the normal range. As you have so much to lose, I would suggest that you ask your dr about Xenical if you are on a medical aid, as this medication is expensive. Xenical prevents you from absorbing fat from food (it is a real fat trapper) and it is used together with a very-low fat diet. It may just give you the start you need when it comes to losing large amounts of weight. Do keep up the walking and try swimming if your back prevents you from doing other exercise - but check with the dr first.
Best regards
