When I eat tomatoes, grapefruit or any other similar acidic food, I get a terrible burning pain in the centre area just below my ribcage. What can be causing this burning feeling? It goes away a little if I drink some water. Please help!

Dear Shona
You may well suffer from gastritis, indigestion, heart-burn, reflux or even ulcers, so it may be a good idea to have this problem checked by a medical dr. Does the pain go away if you take antacids like Rennies or Maalox? If so, then you may need medication to control excess stomach acid secretion - so see your dr. In the meanwhile avoid any foods that cause YOU discomfort.
Best regards
