Normal weight gain during pregnancy
Hi - I am 22 weeks pregnant at the moment and have picked up 10 kilograms. I did a lot of exercise before falling pregnant but suffered from severe 24 hour nausea for the first three months so did not go to gym. After that I have had terrible backache so I am not as active as before. My question is: what is normal weight gain during pregnancy and are there any "preggie diets" out there that I can use to stabilise my weight before I do too much damage?
Dear CD
Congratulations on your pregnancy. If you started off your pregnancy with a normal weight then you can gain up to 16 kg over the course of the pregnancy (about 2 kg per month). Your gain of 10 kg in 5,5 months is therefore perfectly normal and there is no need for you to start dieting. Please don't use any diet that could harm your baby.
Best regards
