Dear Van
Congratulations on your pregnancy. If you click on 'Diet' and 'Eating throughout life' you will find a number of articles on Diet in Pregnancy which should be informative. Generally speaking women who are trying to fall pregnant or are pregnant should avoid raw fish (it contains an anti-thiamine (B1) factor and may contain parasites), dried meat like biltong (as it can be contaminated with parasites), unpasteurised milk and dairy products (can cause Brucellosis) and excessive intakes of caffeine-containing beverages (coffee, tea, cola drinks). Avoid ALL ALCOHOL as this can cause foetal alcohol syndrome.
