Dear Reader
Reductil will help you lose weight, but you need to take it under medical supervision. I hope the other Readers will give you some idea of the weight they have lost. Discuss its use with your dr. According to my copy of the MDR, Reductil contains a compound called sibutramine which is a serotonin (5-HT) and noradrenaline uptake inhibitor. It is believed to exert its effect to reduce body weight by a combined action: decreasing energy intake by enhancing feelings of satiety (fullness) after eating and increasing energy expenditure by increasing resting metabolic rate (i.e. the energy required to keep your body processes going, your body temp normal, etc - without you doing any exercise). It is a schedule 5 drug and can thus only be prescribed by a medical dr. Its use should also be monitored by a medical dr and it should be combined with an energy-reduced diet to achieve the weight loss effect. It is usually not used for longer than 3 months. It is mainly indicated for people suffering from obesity with a BMI exceeding 30. The dr should monitor pulse and blood pressure to check for hypertension. Listed side-effects include: chills, rapid heartbeat, hot flushes, constipation, nausea, worsening of piles, dry mouth, insomnia, dizziness, sweating.
