starvation diet?
Hi doc
How does one spot a 'starvation diet' - how many fewer calories than your basic metabolic rate for instance?
Would a diet of about 850 calories a day for quite a large person be considered starvation?
thanks

Dear Hanlie
Basically adult women should not use a diet that contains less than 1500 cal per day to lose weight. 859 cal is far too low unless the patient is morbidly obese and being carefully monitored by a medical team.
