sugar vs sweetners
I would like to know what your opinion is on sweetners. Is it better to take 1 teaspoon of sugar in your coffie or hulletts equi sweet with sucralose (aspartame free). One website says stay away from sweetners it can make you crave more sugar and one says avoid white sugar.

Dear Sugar vs Sweeteners
This is indeed a difficult question because both sugar and artificial sweeteners cause such emotional responses in the public. There is no harm in having sugar in moderate quantities and even the American Diabetic Association and the Association for Dietetics in SA permit the use of small quantities of sugar such as 1 teaspoon in a hot beverage or 1 teaspoon on porridge. On the other hand patients with diabetes and individuals who need to lose weight sometimes need to use artificial sweeteners or products which contain some artificial sweetener (e.g. low-energy jelly). According to recent research, the body can evidently not differentiate between so-called caloric sweeteners (sugar) and non-caloric sweeteners (aspartame), which can lead to increased in insulin levels which can exacerbate weight gain. So if you only drink 2-3 cups of coffee per day which are sweetened with sugar, then this should not have a dramatic effect on weightloss.
